Beware of Distractions

It is very easy to get distracted while you are looking for that next opportunity. Your situation may have changed and as we all do, as you’re reading now, we go online in search of that next step. We network on social media and invariably as we scroll through, we get distracted.

Something catches our eye and we can’t help but look and sometimes our emotion takes over. We fall into the trap of rage bait and doom scrolling. I found myself there a few months ago. I posted some recruiting advice and my feed was suddenly full of recruiter horror stories and the like.

This is counter productive. It is a distraction from our mission, which is to find that next job or find that next client.

I tell myself this truth. It is pointless to be distracted by things we can’t control. Do what we need to do, advance the cause and keep on stepping. If we do this, we will get to where we need to be.
